Downtown Master Plans Design Workshops

As part of the Downtown Master Plan project, the County and project team Dekker Perich Sabatini will be hosting two virtual Design Workshops. The workshops build upon the goals and vision identified during the Visioning Workshops held on August 19 and 20. These ‘hands on’ events aim to identify future development scenarios for downtowns in White Rock and Los Alamos which use the goals and vision as guiding criteria. Each development scenario will be evaluated by its ability to address various goals.

During the workshops, participants will work in breakout groups to develop a total of four concepts. The goals are to identify how downtown can grow, what the appropriate densities and uses are and what the overall look and feel of downtown could be.

The concepts created during this workshop will help the project team to articulate an appropriate development framework for the downtown master plan.

The two-and-a-half-hour Zoom virtual workshop is structured to be interactive and to maximize input from participants. The meeting will commence with an overview of the outcomes from the Visioning Workshops and a discussion on the goals and vision. Participants will be split into breakout groups to create a development scenario for downtown, taking into consideration the goals and vision. Towards the end of the breakout group discussions, each group will present their concept to the larger group and highlight how their concept meets the goals. A general discussion about common themes will wrap up the workshop.
